Harry V Henrichsen, 66.
Born March 19, 1906 at Gann Valley SD to John Henrichsen and Alma Jorgenson. He attended school in Platte, SD. In the late 1920's he came to western SD living in the Fairview area for some years. He worked for Summit Construction and Black Hills Cadillac before becoming an self-employed truck driver in 1968.
He married Vivian Johnson on July 19,1933 in Rapid City. Vivian was a granddaughter of "Hooky Jack" Leary, a well known early Rapid City citizen. Harry was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the South Dakota Truck Drivers Association, and an honorary member of Future Farmers of America.
On the night of June 9th, Harry took refuge in a tree when the wall of water from Canyon Lake Dam came. His body was found not far from his home on New York Street.
He is survived by his widow, sons Fay, Jimmy, John and Jerald all of Rapid City; one daughter, Beverly Jean Withington of Hilo, HI; Nine grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Unruh, of Chester, IA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Esther Henrichsen, and a brother, Jimmie Lee Henrichsen, who died at Pearl Harbor.
Harry is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery.
