Description

Funeral services for Earnest E. Harris of Dows were held on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Dows United Methodist Church with the Rev. E. E. Cuddleback officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery and the William Funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Harris was killed in the flood at Rapid City, South Dakota on Saturday morning of June 10, 1972. At the time of his death he was on vacation in the Black Hills area with Mrs. Arlene Rawlins and her three daughters who also died in the flood.

He was born in Webster County on April 19, 1922 and was the son of Ernest I. and Olivia Foster Harris. He was raised and educated near Popejoy and was graduated from high school there in 1940. For the past fourteen years he had been employed by the Farmers Grain and Lumber Co. of Dows.

Mr. Harris is survived by two children, Mrs. Samuel L. (Beverly) Craig of Joliet, Illinois and Kerry Harris of Omaha, Nebraska. He is also survived by his father of Dows, two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Nadine) Jackson of Dows, Mrs. Carmen (Letha) Nichols of Radcliffe, three grandchildren and two half sisters, Mrs. Wilbur (Ruth) Babcock of Eagle Grove and Leota Phillips of Fresno, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his mother. Mr. Harris was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Dows Fire Dept
