Earnest Edward Harris

Earnest Edward Harris, 50.
Born on April 14, 1922 to Ernest Olivia Harris in Webster County, IA. He was raised and educated near Popejoy and graduated from high school there in 1940. For the fourteen years preceding his death, he had been employed by the Farmers Grain and Lumber Co. of Dows, IA. Earnest was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Dows Fire Department.
Earnest was killed in the flood at Rapid City, South Dakota on June 10, 1972. At the time of his death he was on vacation in the Black Hills area with Frances Rawlins and her three daughters, Brenda, Lori, and Julie, who also died in the flood.
Mr. Harris was survived by two children: Beverly Craig of Joliet, IL, and Kerry Harris of Omaha, NE. He was also survived by his father; two sisters: Nadine Jackson of Dows, IA, Letha Nichols of Radcliffe, IA; three grandchildren; and two half sisters: Ruth Babcock and Leota Phillips of Fresno, CA.
He was preceded in death by his mother. Buried in the Fairview Cemetery, Dows, IA.
