Delores Maxine (Onstad) Grass, 45.
Born on April 29,1927 to Hans and Sophia Onstad in North Dakota. She married Royce Grass on November 19,1956. He died in 2002 and is buried in Black Hills National Cemetery.
She worked at St. John's McNamara Hospital in Rapid City for several years in the blood bank. In the early 1960's she worked as a waitress at the Canyon Lake Club and later at the Red Garter Restaurant. In 1970 she started working as a waitress at Tally's, and was working there at the time of her death.
On the night of the flood she and her daughter were at their house in Cleghorn Canyon when the water began to rise. Delores attempted to start her husbands truck but was swept away in the fast moving water.
Survivors included two daughters: Linda Grass of Rapid City, and Nancy Luxem of Lynnwood, CA.
Buried at Pine Lawn Memorial Park.
