I was 9 years old and staying at a motel cabin on Canyon Lake with my family the night of the flood. I can still remember the sounds and sights and feelings, vividly.
I am not sure why my family survived. When we woke up, water was pouring over our beds and the pressure on the door of our cabin was so great that my Dad had an extremely difficult time getting it open . . . I heard people screaming when the bridge went . . .
It has been 41 years and I will NEVER forget that night.
