Description

Harry V Henrichsen was born 19 March 1906 at Gann Valley SD to John Henrichson and Alma Jorgenson. He attended school in Platte SD. In the late 1920's he came to western SD living in the Fairview area for some years. He worked for Summitt, Construction and Black Hills Cadillac before becoming an self empoyed truck driver in 1968 which he was when he died.

He married Vivian Johnson who was a granddaughter of "Hooky Jack" Leary, a well known early Rapid City citizen, on July 19,1933 in Rapid City. Harry was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the South Dakota Truck Drivers Association and an honorary member of Future Farmers of America.

On the night of June 9th Harry took refuge in a tree when the wall of water from Canyon Lake Dam came, his body was found not far from his home on New York Street.

He is survived by Harry his widow, sons Fay, Jimmy, John and Jerald all of Rapid City. And one daughter Beverly Jean Withington of Hilo HI. Nine grandchildren and also a sister Mrs Ruth Unruh of Chester IA. He was preceded in death by a sister Esther Henrichsen and a brother Jimmy Lee Henrichsen, at Pearl Harbor.
