Description

Mark Edward Greenlund was born July 7, 1945 in Warren, PA, to Kenneth Grunlund and Margaret Olson. He graduated from high school in 1963. He attended and graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1967 and received his Masters Degree from Otis School of Art in Los Angeles in 1971. He was, for a time, art director for the Title 111 Program for the Ann Arundel County board for education in Maryland.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Warren Pennsylvania.

He was a professional photographer and came to Rapid City seeking peace and quiet. He had recently resigned from his position as professor of Art at Louisville School of Art. Due to an unforeseeable circumstance he was hired to take some wedding pictures in early May for a friend of his Don Wagner of Rapid City.

He rented a house near Nemo on Box Elder Creek. He loved to go out his back door and fish in the creek. He had an appointment with a friend Dick Termes of Spearfish to meet in Deadwood the night he died. He and Dick had both graduated from Otis School of Art. It was Dick who identified Mark.

He is survived by his parents and a brother David in Bel Air, Virgina. He was buried in Warren County Memorial Park in Warren Pennsylvania.
